FYP2 : Critique 1 pt 2

Title

Augmented Reality : Shopping Virtually

Background

Online shopping has becoming a trend in our country. It's so much easier than to go out to shopping mall and look for their choice of clothing. It's also helps shopper to save more money on traveling and for driver, saves more gas and at the same time reduce the usage of gas that will be released in the air and thus saves the environment at the same time.

Problem Identification

It is hard to make sure that certain clothing that we shopped online fits exactly our size.

Project Title

Choose And Match

Aim and objectives

To improvise the way people to shop online

Motivation

Online blog shops now usually upload certain sizes of the clothing but did not put the exact cutting measurements and confuses the shoppers whether or not he choice of clothing they did fits them or not. Also, some accessories didn't really appear as described.

Ideation and Concept

Shoppers can choose varieties of clothing more efficient, also can try out some other accessories as to look at in details virtually before buying them out online. This application may not be able to work online but definitely will be the stepping stone for the attempt to use augmented reality to shop online as a possible way to make it, a reality.

Design Concept

FYP2 : Critique 1 pt 1

For 6 long weeks I've been working on my biggest concern for my fyp project, which is to create an augmented reality application with multiple markers. Previously, I only managed to get single marker only to work and didn't have any idea on how to create multiple markers work simultaneously. So after 6 long weeks of research and studies from other programmers, I finally managed to get it done.

As promised ; here I only display 2 markers that worked because my hands are full and the papers were so big to hold more than 2. What's left for me to do now is to create the content for this application and replace them with the cubic boxes that was included in the open source as dummies/examples that I found ( which ended up I had to modify and rewrite a few lines in the coding sheet to get it working ).

With multiple markers, I can have other options to superimpose not 1 but 2 or more items on users body. Also, I can add on some other accessories for instance, earrings, wrist watches, bangles, and others like what our lecturer, Mr. Kok Yoong and suggested to me during my consultation with him, which is to create an application more than just an Augmented Reality application.

However, I've decided to drop out the interface buttons that I planned to include in the application. What I proposed on last trimester was in this application later on, there will be buttons for user to switch to other designs of clothings. I've decided not to do it because I've yet to figure out how and it will take more than enough time given to complete it. Now, I have ample time to create the content for this main application.

Next update is about proposal that I've finalized for this application.

FYP2 !

Haven't really updated this blog since the last submition which was last trimester. Of course I do have progress.

My biggest concern for my application was how to create multiple markers for Augmented Reality. Recently on my last few updates, I managed to create only 1 marker to get it work. Now I can create up to 24 markers, which was a surprise to me as I could really get it done!

Will post up a few screenshots later on my next update.
